Lens Flair
We say it a lot we know, but the photos coming across the photo ed's desk just keep getting better. Up front this issue are 10 pages of mind-blowingly good images from the Sunny Coast, Nova Scotia, Santa Barbara and Bali. If you've ever seen 10 pages of better photos anywhere then . . . maybe let us know. Or not.

Getting the Point
When she first started writing for PLB not all that long ago, Lucy Small impressed us greatly but now she positively sparkles. Three issues ago Lucy was in Mozambique but here she returns to far more familiar territory - the famed point at Crescent Head. With travelling companions Roisin Carolan from Byron Bay and Sasha Leitmanis from Torquay reflecting the north(ish) and south of the Oz east coast and the yin and yang of personality types, all they needed to complete the picture was a gun photographer and Matt Dunbar more than filled the bill!

Four Days in Mexico
In spite of the scorpions, the cartel and the incessant Mariachi music, Andrea Coleman ventured with 11-year-old son Tom to Casa Trim, C.J. Nelson's rental house on the beach just north of Ixtapa in the Mexican state of Guerrero in search of uncrowded pointbreaks and found exactly that. She even took the photos and found both C.J. and Tom in great form. Casa Trim definitely added to our bucket list.

Be Kind, Be Calm, Keep Smiling
Marcus James introduces those of us who don't already know to the oldest professional surfer in Australia and all-round character, philosopher and change-agent Michael Cottier. A fascination story - you couldn't make it up!

Long Way Round
From Lands End on the bottom of England to John O'Groats on the very top of Scotland, Roger Sharp brings the story and photographic evidence of a 2000-mile road trip featuring Harley Ingleby, Ben Skinner, Jack Entwistle and some likely local lads.

>> DEPARTMENTS

Page Three Girl

Emilie Libier is from south-west France but moved to Sydney four years ago. Elle est magnifique!

Grey Guru
As you all know by now there is absolutely no limit to the talents of our hero though we naturally focus on the surf–related aspects. However, literary prowess features high on the GG's own scale of his considerable attributes. Here he recaps a few highlights and generously offers some encouragement to one of his followers in William Finnigan, writer of Barbarian Days (about surfing strangely) and regular contributor to the New Yorker.

Cutting Edge
The remarkable story of Col Chandler, surfer, artist and MS sufferer. Ned Snow's new DVD Modern Approach and Sam Bleakley's The Longboard Travel Guide.

The Buzz

Of course the first thing we all read to see who won the board and all the other news we can't live without.
